The Results for the 2008 Governor’s Hometown Award Are In !!!!!

St. Joseph has won First Place in the Parks & Rec category for municipalities in our population class!!

THANK YOU to all the Volunteers that have put in SO MANY hours to make this dream a reality.  This award is due to you !!!!!

Now everyone in the State knows what we already knew.  St. Joseph residents are the BEST that there are – ask for help and they are there ready to work!!!

******************************

If you get a chance, go look at our new Looking For Lincoln Exhibit on Homer Lake Road just west of the Sidney Slab.

The marker is to celebrate the time Lincoln spent at Kelley’s Tavern, the site of old St. Joseph.

This exhibit was made possible through a grant from the Looking for Lincoln Coalition.  The Village had to pay the remaining $3,500 for the sign and is continuing to take donations to offset our cost.

Sewer Billings are sent out at the end of the following months (in parenthesis are the months that will be billed for):
February            ( December & January)
April                   (February & March)
June                    (April & May)
August                (June & July)
October              (August & September)
December           (October & November)

The bill must be paid in full by the end of the next month to avoid late payment charges.

The sewer bill is calculated from the reading that Illinois American Water provides the Village.

You will be billed one month for your water usage by Illinois American and the next month from the Village for your sewage usage.

If you are watering outside a lot, you might benefit from purchasing an outside water meter

*********************************************

Watering Outside ??????

The Village has outside water meters for sale.  The cost of each meter is $55.  Bring them in for a reading and receive credit on your next sewer bill.

The amount of water you use outside and thus does not run through our sewage system will be deducted from your account.

LEAF PICKUP

2008 Leaf Pickup will begin on
October 20th and continue through December 12th.

The route is the same as is followed for brush.  Monday of each week, the Public Works staff will begin on the south end of town and work their way north.

We suggest that you make sure all your leaves are raked to your curb on Sunday as we cannot know what day the Public Works employees will get to each area as it depends on the volume of leaves to be picked up.

Leaves in bags will not be picked up until the November brush pickup.  While there may be a December brush pick-up there also may not be one due to weather so don’t put your leaves in bags after November pickup.

Brush Pickup

The Village has brush pickup the first full week of each month April – November weather permitting. Weather permitting pickup will also be done in December.
